On the northwest corner First Street and Denver, construction is feverishly in progress, as New Vision Charter School’s second campus takes shape in preparation for the 2019-20 school year. Plans are to begin classes in August 2019.
According to Executive Director, Timothy Bishop, construction is progressing well and on schedule. Soon, the exterior walls and steel framing will be in place. “We are going to be able to offer a lot more to our community. That’s what we’re most excited about…” The School has been at capacity enrollment for several years. Due to this expansion, parents who have been waiting for the prospect to enroll their students, will have an increased opportunity.
The new 57,000 square foot building will include classrooms, music and art rooms, laboratories, a dining/commons area, performance stage and more. The campus will have a full size gymnasium, sports field, and space to further expand the successful STEM (the hands-on science, technology, engineering and math curriculum), music, art and other programs. Both campuses combined will be able to accommodate approximately 900 total students.
The new campus will host grades 4-8. New Vision’s current location at 2366 East First Street will become a K-3 school. The “K-3″ concept is very exciting to parents. The advantage of consolidation of K-3 teachers and resources is the ability to completely focus on the needs of these students.
